The Corner House
Touted as one of the best eats in Bondi, The Corner House offers a quintessential Bondi dining experience.
Nestled on the corner of what was once an old stop for the famous Bondi Tram (previously the home of Old Castile), The Corner House is the perfect place to wander to after a lazy day at the beach. Its delicious, pared-back, seasonal Italian fare – prepared by chef Brent Mills in his open kitchen – is the perfect accompaniment to a Bondi evening.
The owners, Anthony Kaplan (of North Bondi’s The Shop & Wine Bar) and Brent Mills (New York’s Sweetwater Tavern) have carefully crafted The Corner House to cater for everyone’s dining and lounging desires, adorning the space with salvaged railway tracks, wooden ferry pews and the rustic touch of acid-treated steel floors.
The Corner House isn’t just a restaurant either. Munch down on the daily blackboard specials in the banquette-lined dining room at the rear; we suggest the Alaskan king crab and mascarpone ravioli with cherry tomato and fennel salad. Or share a casual wood-fired pizza washed down with a glass of wine, all followed by a cocktail in the bar upstairs.
Named the Living Room, and comfy like one too, the bar also features an idyllic outdoor area for those balmy summer days.
Depending on your mood – whether it be a pining for a fancy meal, a few drinks or a grazy afternoon – this is a true Bondi eating experience.
Head to The Corner House, soak in the atmosphere and don’t forget to use the bathroom. It’s worth a visit. Trust us.
