Go To The Hot ListCorner 75 is a long-running Randwick institution and an icon in Sydney’s Hungarian-Australian community.
In 2025, beloved long-time owner Paul Varga retired, handing over custodianship of Corner 75 to the owners of Sixpenny and Baba’s Place. On the surface it seemed like an odd choice – could the owners of two of Sydney’s most esteemed restaurants really run a notoriously daggy suburban restaurant? Were they going to mess with the secret sauce? Would they take the locally famous schnitzel, which isn’t even Hungarian, off the menu?
Yes they can, no they weren’t and no they didn’t. Instead Sixpenny’s co-owner and chef, Dan Puskas, who’s of Hungarian heritage, and the Baba’s team have treated it with the reverence and affection Corner 75 deserves.
Old favourite dishes are still there, but they’ve just been given a fine-tune. And they’re well complemented by an excellent, mostly Hungarian wine list, and service that’s just as warm and hospitable as Corner 75 has always been.
And that fantastically chaotic dining room – filled with framed photos and Hungarian memorabilia – is as full on as ever.
This place was added to the Hot List recently and has the whole city talking.
From an enthusiastic welcome to help navigating the menu, expect outstanding hospitality when you visit this place.
