Bistro Rex

Bistro Rex is a sophisticated yet approachable French restaurant at the Paris end of Potts Point, and a pillar of the suburb’s dining scene since 2017. It’s a destination as well as a neighbourhood favourite, and works just as well regardless of whether you’re in the market for a casual midweek aperitif or a haute meal by candlelight.

Head chef Fabio Salvatore (ex-Lumi Dining, Icebergs, Totti’s) is behind the menu of Gallic standards, from twice-baked cheese souffle to steak frites, and a house burger made with Blackmore’s Wagyu, raclette and pickles. Naturally you can add bumps of caviar to any dish, there’s a set menu of three courses for those who’d rather leave the decisions to Rex.

Dark French oak interiors are a reinvention of the classic Parisian bistro. The room is all mosaic penny tiles and impressive pillars, but the zinc bar is where you’ll want to sit – not only is the best place to get across the exceptional list of French and Australian wines; it’s the front row to all the action transpiring in the open kitchen.
