The Avalon on the Beach
5:30pm - 9:00pm
Features
The Avalon Beach Surf Life Saving Club has been done up by the Trippas White Group (Botanic Gardens Restaurant, The Pavilion in The Domain and Walsh Bay Kitchen). The downstairs kiosk, which spills directly onto the sand of Avalon Beach, has a handful of hotly contested tables, but is geared for top-grade takeaway. The petite and efficient open kitchen pumps out breakfasts of chia pudding; cheesy cheddar jaffles; bacon-and-egg rolls and coffee by Double Roasters. Lunch includes falafel-hummus wraps; tomato mozzarella paninis; mini prawn sliders; classic salt-and-pepper calamari; and beer-battered fish and chips.
Upstairs in the restaurant things are a little more refined, but still beachside casual, with views out to the horizon from every table and a banquette with a pastel finish. Breakfasts up here include kale frittatas; chorizo omelettes; or classic eggs Benedict. Lunch and dinner offers tiger-prawn buckets; whole barramundi; and char-grilled spatchcock. It’s licensed, too, with a neat selection of bubbles, cocktails and ciders in the mix. perfect for whether you’re starving after a surf, or looking to toast over a sunset.
