Town Bike Pitstop

7:30am - 5:00pm
156 Abercrombie Street Redfern

Bikes mounted on the walls might seem a familiar sight for anyone who has frequented a cafe in the last few years, but at Town Bike Pitstop they’re for sale rather than just for show. With wheels from Bobbins and Bronx, the vintage and retro designs would inspire anyone to take to the road. But before you do, it’s worth settling in for a coffee and a bite.

The Dutch breakfasts are light and simple, suiting the elegant, efficient sensibilities of this spot. The coffee beans come care of by Caffe di Gabriel, erring on the sweeter side but definitely providing the right kind of kick for a forthcoming cycle session. Sandwiches and pies make for more substantial lunches, and with Brasserie Bread taking care of the carbs (via cakes and loaves), you’ll have something to burn off later.

The Redfern Bike Depot sits at the side of the cafe, so you can freely do a bit of maintenance on your bike, or hand it over to the pros if it needs a bit more TLC. With bike workshops, free wi-fi and a caffeine hit, the Pitstop manages to cultivate a friendly little bit of Eurocentric bicycle culture in an unexpected, but very fitting nook of Sydney.
