Henry Lee’s – named after the Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds track – was a homecoming for Central Coast couple Kath and Aaron Devaney.
After running Long Jetty favourite Green Tangerine, the couple returned to open this collaborative cafe in Redfern’s creative precinct at 16 Eveleigh Street.
Architect Atelier Andy Carson has created a light-filled space. A huge, steel, cantilevered awning provides dappled light across the polished concrete and bluestone floor. The interior design has kept aspects of the venue’s manufacturing history; bare stone walls and milled railway sleepers remain intact. A leafy courtyard breathes life into the industrial space.
The cafe sells products from The Urban Beehive Redfern and Tippity Tea. Reading material curated by Oxford Street’s Beautiful Pages is available to buy, or flick through while you eat from the extensive breakfast menu.
