Features

A Loft Story was opened in 2014 by hairdresser Jane Wei, who wanted to create a salon that offered clients something beyond a chair, a mirror and a pile of magazines. The resulting space is a sprawling, two-storey, plant-filled warehouse off King Street.

More hybrid creative space than typical hairdresser, A Loft Story is home to a rotating roster retail concepts and beauty services such as nails and eyelash extensions. On Sundays and Mondays, when the salon is closed, the warehouse is also used for workshops, and can be hired out for “intimate gigs.”

The concept of A Loft Story continues to change. Previously, the space has incorporated an art gallery, and a retail space for a rotating roster of Australian designers of everything from sunglasses, to leather goods and swimwear.

Located across from Camperdown Park, guests are encouraged to bring their dogs and take them for walks when they’re not busy with beauty treatments.
