Features
While the fit-out at this King Street restaurant is restrained, the food is anything but. Expect contemporary takes on Thai dishes, cooked with Italian technique. The through line? Piquant flavours, the inspiration behind the name.
Standouts have included an inventive mussel omelette, house-made roti and a salad with chunked watermelon, green mango and toasted rice. Blends of sweet and spicy are a common sight at Piqu.
And the 35-seater has a mix of inventive cocktails – previous menus featured a Thai Peanut Colada and a pandan highball – as well as a tight wine list. The whole operation is pared back and unpretentious, providing a blank canvas for this vibrant mix of Thai food and drinks.
