Clovelly Beach is roughly halfway along the bustling Bondi to Coogee walk. But given the ample real-estate to stretch out in the sun here, you might want to throw in the towel early.
The concrete promenades on either side of the inlet are always dotted with slowly-roasting locals, whereas the sandy shore teems with beach-going families. On the southern side of the bay, you’ll find a lap-pool, kiosk and the car park where space is premium on weekends, especially.
Clovelly is known for its abundant marine-life. Snorkel-clad swimmers take to the water for a glimpse of the groper-in-residence, the aptly-nicknamed “Bluey” (you can usually spot him towards the back on a calm day).
To wash off the day’s salt, head up the hill for refreshment at the understated Clovelly bowling club. It has spectacular panoramas of the pacific from the manicured bowling green.
