The Horatio is one of the first buildings you’ll see as you drive into Mudgee. If you’re staying at the hotel, this symbolic welcome goes a whole lot further.

The team aims to provide its guests with more than just comfort. The staff is a wealth of local knowledge, whether you want advice on the area’s wineries or help planning a hiking route.

Mirroring the town’s sense of community, the reception area functions as a gathering point for guests to sit by the fire, play board games and make travelling buddies. It’s a great place to rest after trying to conquer all the vineyards in a weekend.

The rooms’ clean, attractive fit-outs are of the rooms are the work of owner and architect Kevin Snell, who founded the hotel in 1997 and renovated in 2013.

The King Spa and King Suite rooms offer couples privacy, peace and quiet. They’re self-contained and furnished with leather lounges, king-size beds, and big bathrooms. The Twin Suites offer the same experience for two couples, or small families.

The three-bedroom Horatio Cottage is separate from the main hotel but allows access to all the same facilities. It’s pet friendly, so you don’t have to leave anyone at home.
