Features
Food truck El Taco, owned by a pair of ex-tradie cousins, specialises in Mexican street food.
You’ll be happy with a taco or tostada, but the star is the volcano. Think of it as the lovechild of a taco, quesadilla and tostada. Pick between a Spanish Mexican chorizo or Black Forest Smokehouse’s skirt steak. The meat’s charcoal-grilled to order, cleavered, then laid onto a handmade crispy corn tortilla that’s grilled with a gooey crown of lacy, melted cheese. It’s finished with guacamole, onion and coriander, then served with lime on taqueria plates from Mexico.
El Taco’s salsas are all made in-house. The Aztec fire, a crushed salsa made with grilled green tomatoes, is smoky and tangy. Nut Fury is El Taco’s take on salsa de cacahuate, a fiery fried peanut salsa with a slightly sweet finish.
