Breaking new ground across Australia, The Skin Bar (famed for its glow-enhancing microneedling treatments across Sydney and Melbourne), adds new locations in Northern Beaches and the Gold Coast’s Mermaid Beach.

Run by founder and skin needling expert Samantha Appel, the salon follows a natural, non-toxic skincare approach that moves away from injectables like Botox and filler. “This is the new modern way to treat skin – with less is more – less inject, less filler, just focusing on being you,” Appel tells Broadsheet. “Embracing ageing, but also having your best skin.”

Microneedling involves creating controlled micro-injuries to the skin with fine, medical-grade needles, triggering the body’s natural healing process and boosting collagen and elastin production. With a bit of downtime – keeping the skincare routine simple and the face makeup-free – results can start to show within a week. “You’re getting that collagen induction without having to paralyse muscles,” she says.

The new Mosman and Mermaid Beach salons offer The Skin Bar’s signature lineup of treatments, including microneedling, the “big gun” RF needling, herbal B peel, facials such as the deluxe anti-ageing facial, LED therapy, and the newest option, The Acne Treatment by Mesoestetic.

The new additions mean The Skin Bar now has nine locations, all following the brand's distinctive emerald green aesthetic. “It’s a space that is intentionally green, creating a calming, warm experience,” says Appel, who admits a soft spot for the Mermaid Beach salon. “It’s like a cute little freestanding house. Unlike most commercial spaces that line retail strips, this is a truly unique spot. The reception is one of those spaces people just want to photograph and share on Instagram.”
