Surry Hills Favourite Provider Store Opens in The Galeries

Provider Store founder Tara Bennett is business savvy. She started her Japanese-influenced homewares and lifestyle shop at home, before taking up residence in a skinny little shop on Riley Street. In 2024 she added the (now sold) Tasmanian holiday-rental Provider House to the mix, along with a beaut of a cafe on Flinders Street. Now, Bennett’s popping up in The Galeries.
The CBD Provider Store sits on the ground floor of the shopping centre, just outside Incu’s accessories store. The pop-up is big, with shelves styled just so. The store’s signature collection of hand-poured candles, homewares and lifestyle pieces are here, along with a curation of one-off vintage objects fresh from Bennett’s sourcing trip through Japan.
It’s the largest collection she’s ever brought back, thrifted on Japan’s hot summer days. Joining the limited curation is a three-part line-up of candles made especially for The Galeries pop-up. Made in collaboration with Incu, Salomon and Books Kinokuniya, the scents are inspired by the feeling of putting on a well-loved tee, alpine landscapes and the discovery of a bookstore.
Each scented candle is made of pure soy wax and comes in a Japanese ceramic vessel. They’re hand-poured in Sydney, and available exclusively with purchases of $300 or over (spent on a single day, across up to five receipts) within The Galeries. Simply bring your receipts to the Provider Store pop-up.
The CBD Provider Store is open from now until Sunday October 25. Once your Provider x Galeries candle has burnt out, bring it back to the Surry Hills store to choose something from the Provider scent library and wait for your vessel to be refilled for a small fee.
The Provider Store pop-up at The Galeries runs from September 29 to October 25, within usual trading hours.
