Italians won’t drink milk in their coffees after 12pm. While Australians seem to be a little more flexible with the timing of their caffeine intake, there’s definitely a tendency to favour the morning hit of coffee, with some cafes closing their doors around 4pm. Sometimes, you need a pick-me-up after work before a full night of socialising. Here are our suggestions for cafes serving coffee all day long.

  • These days Bourke Street Bakery has outposts by the baker’s dozen. But this much-loved corner site is where it all started. Tip-top sourdough, award-winning pies and value-packed sandwiches are the main attractions.

  • A cheese lover’s paradise.

  • A charming place to enjoy fresh local ingredients and alfresco dining on one of Sydney’s favourite streets.

  • Cronulla's Best Coffee.

  • A summery oasis secretly disguised in a historic substation.

  • Coffee and pastries working to a French bakery tradition.

  • Cute corner cafe in the coffee hub of Marrickville.

  • Campos is seemingly everywhere now, but this is where it all began.
