Vegan food is having a moment in Sydney. If we're talking about the higher end of dining, there's never been a better time to go animal-products free. In 2018 we got two sharp, almost-fine-dining restaurants that just happen to be plant-based: Paperbark and Alibi. Brent Savage and Nick Hildebrandt, meanwhile, have begun offering vegan menus at Yellow, their lauded vegetarian restaurant.

And we still have affordable options spanning pizza, burgers, sushi, pho, gelato and pub classics. Some of our picks aren't 100 per cent vegan, but all offer a substantial selection of animal-product-free dishes.
