The Wedge has been a standout in Glebe’s hospo scene since it opened in 2011. Plum on Cowper Street, away from the buzz of Glebe Point Road, this sliver of a cafe-slash-diner features large, fold-out windows allowing for a streetside sit, and marble tables and booths that catch plenty of sun. It’s a handsome space to wedge yourself into at any time of day.

The menu by head chef Jack Fitzhenry (ex- Bastardo) and Aldo Farroni (ex- Shell House) flaunts strong Portuguese and Italian influences. For example, brekkie might look like one you'd take in Lisbon, featuring eggs Benedict with bottarga, salted cod, hashbrowns and chorizo by Marrickville’s Whole Beast Butchery. We also love the Mountaineer (the house ploughman's spread), and the dry-aged beef burger with gochujang ketchup.

The Wedge has long been the suburb’s most reliable coffee go-to, and pulls shots by top Sydney roaster Single O alongside a menu of teas, shakes, juices, and hot chocolate by Silver Street. The vibe switches in the afternoons, and the spot transforms into a neighbourhood bar with happy-hour cocktails and snacks. Throw in a full dinner menu featuring jamon croquettes, saffron-spun risotto and more on Fridays and Saturdays, and The Wedge has you covered for every kind of rendezvous.
