The Electrolux Appetite for Excellence awards are well known for their support, inspiration and mentorship of the best young talent in hospitality, each year recognising the top young chefs, front of house and sommeliers in the country. And 2012 has been no exception.

But it’s not just the awards that champion top hospitality talent – the Appetite for Excellence scheme goes on supporting the finalists long after the competition has closed and the next event to highlight the cream of the crop plays out here in Sydney on August 6.

For one night, the NSW finalists come together to create Whet Your Appetite, a dinner showcasing the best of the season. The dinner will be held in the Electrolux Showcase space, fitted with an open kitchen, allowing the culinary talent to show-off their skills.

And it’s not just the 2012 winners on show. A range of award-winners will be taking part in the three-course dinner, including Sarah Knights of Ucello (2012 Young Chef National Finalist), Victor Liong of Marque (2011 Young Chef National Finalist), Alexander Tuckett of Pilu at Freshwater and James Audas of BLACK by Ezard (both 2012 Young Waiter National Finalists) to name a few.

It’s a chance to see these passionate young hospitality professionals bringing their vision and passion to the table and representing the future of the restaurant business.

The Whet Your Appetite dinner takes place on Monday August 6, 7pm–10pm, at Electrolux Showcase, Corner O’Riordan and Coward Streets, Mascot.

Tickets are $90pp for a three-course menu with matching wines.
