After nine years, Ultimo’s burger restaurant Pub Life Kitchen has announced it’s closing for good on October 14.
“We’ve kind of outgrown the Pub Life brand. It’s been eight years of my life, it’s time to move on,” says owner Jovan Curic.
The Pub Life Kitchen’s short menu developed a loyal following fast, while its Wednesday night burger experiment (where Curic and his team create wild one-off specials) pulled in people from all over the city for its dry-aged beef patties (made by the in-house butcher in the hanging room).
In a statement posted on Facebook on September 30, Curic said: “We have decided to close the doors on Ultimo and PLK to push our focus on Superior Burger and our food truck the Superior Express.” The fully restored and customised 1950s Austin bus is hireable for events.
Curic has also launched an online ordering system at Superior Burger, where burgers will be available for delivery.
Curic’s final “burger experiment” will be held on Wednesday October 11 and is promised to be the biggest and most extravagant of them all, while the restaurant will close on October 14.
