Vivid Sydney is one of the best months of the year to spend time in our city. Sydney’s walls come alive with colour and Sydneysiders respond in kind, flocking to the streets when the sun goes down and the lights flare up.
Citibank have only improved on the formula by creating their very own pop-up bar, right next to the action on the western side of the Darling Harbour foreshore.
The Meat & Wine Co. have created the menu with a concise selection of still and sparkling wines by the glass or bottle. You can also pick up some dinner, with an array of burgers and skewers or a cheese plate for two on offer. Enjoy the 20-metre high water, light and music show that is Vivid Aquatique, without getting wet. Based on the fountains at the Palace of Versailles, the water show experts at Aquatique Show International have created a captivating performance.
This is the first time that Darling Harbour has been added as a venue for Vivid and as you wander down to the pop-up you’ll pass by the Night Blossoms, which sees the trees of Pyrmont bloom after dark to create a colourful walkway along the normally bustling thoroughfare. From there, it would be hard to miss the National Maritime Museum’s Indian-inspired light display, which is set to spice up the night.
On the opposite side of the bay, in the Darling Quarter, you’ll discover Luminous, which sees the Commonwealth Bank’s entire 150-metre façade slathered with LED lights in an installation that is the largest of its kind in the world.
The place to be until June 10 just became a whole lot brighter on the shores of Darling Harbour – and we’re not just talking about the lights.
