“My heart, my heart!” as Tina would say. Bob’s Burgers is coming to life thanks to show creator, Loren Bouchard and blogger, Cole Bowden.
For those who aren’t already Bob’s Burgers fans, the animated TV show follows the Belcher family – Bob, Linda and their three children, Tina, Gene and Louise. They run a near-failing hamburger restaurant and, despite its lack of customers, it supposedly grills really good, beefy burgers. According to Bob, anyway.
Since the show’s debut in 2011, blogger Bowden started the cooking blog The Bob’s Burgers Experiment. For it he has made every burger that appears on the fictional burger joint’s specials chalkboard.
It was inevitable there’d eventually be a cookbook.
The badly punned burgers are a running joke on the show. Examples such as the Onion-Tended Consequences; Don’t You Four Cheddar ‘Bout Me; and the If Looks Could Kale burger, all make it into the book.
For the blog, Bowden uses his imagination to recreate the cartoon burgers, but he was helped by professional chefs Aliza Miner and Paul O’Connell to create the cookbook.
It may not be one to shelve between your copy of Nordic Cookbook and Nopi, but if you could use 71 different burger puns, this is your ultimate reference.
Bob’s Burgers of the Day is out now.
