Following on from the success of its incredibly popular breakfast and lunch offerings, Lox Stock & Barrel on Glenayr Street is bringing its delicious Eastern and Northern European food to the evenings.

Overseen by brother-and-sister duo Neil and Lianne Gottheiner, the menu will be seasonal with staples to keep the regulars coming back. “It's a deli/bistro kind of place and so we want people to come back for the dishes they like,” says Neil.

The New York deli inspiration shines through in the Lox Stock & Barrel deli platter, a feast of chopped chicken liver, egg salad, Polish pickles, corned beef, Russian coleslaw, raw and pickled vegetables, cured herring and smoked mackerel, all served up with a side of bagel crisps. Also on offer are winter warmers like the Blackmore Wagyu beef shin goulash and root vegetables, mandarin-glazed duck Maryland with Thai basil, sugar snaps and ginger, and the pearl barley risotto with pumpkin and kale. Banana cheesecake or a warm chocolate almond fudge cake will ensure things finish on a sweet note.

The pickled menu motif continues on the cocktail list with a pickled Bloody Mary and the Pickle Back (Scotch whiskey with sweet pickle juice and tobasco chaser).

As of next week, dinner will also be served at the row of tables lining the front of the restaurant for those willing to brave the winter chill. Dinners have been popular so call ahead to book a table.
