Bennelong’s new venture is nothing if not intimate: it places one table of four inside the belly of the restaurant. Diners (escorted via freight elevator) will be able to watch their meals being prepared, ask questions of senior chefs and see what executive chef Peter Gilmore describes as, “The best harbour views of any kitchen in Australia.” While The Kitchen is taking bookings now, the menu remains a secret. Diners can expect an eight-course meal with wines chosen by sommelier, Russ Mills. Spokespeople have promised a high level of interactivity with staff, offering a glimpse into “the theatre of a bustling kitchen”.

The Kitchen is open for dining now and costs $550 per person, either in pairs or a table of four. Reservations can be made by calling (02) 9240 8000.
