Inspired by the all-day parties in Ibiza and St Tropez, Adam Abrams and Julian Tobias have brought European beach club style to Sydney Harbour for summer with The Island, Australia’s first floating, open-air bar.

To celebrate the warmer weather, The Island recently launched its season with the exclusive Weekend Beach Club. Kicking off at midday every Saturday and Sunday, this weekly event is the only one open to the public (the venue is primarily used for elite corporate events, weddings, media and product launches). A fully licensed, custom-made bar sits alongside VIP cabanas, beach chairs and day beds, perfect for lazily sipping cocktails in the afternoon sun. A predominately white colour palette keeps the feel sophisticated yet relaxed without distracting from the magnificent harbour views. [fold] As a new addition this season, Hugos Bar Pizza will be feeding hungry partygoers throughout the day. As the cocktails flow (we recommend the signature rum coconuts or the apple martinis), Sydney’s best DJs (and the occasional international act) take the atmosphere from lounging-in-the-sun to on- your-feet dance party.

Pre-purchase your tickets online for $40 per person, which covers return water taxi transfers and a cocktail on arrival. If you’re celebrating with a big group or just want a little VIP treatment, table and daybed bookings are also available to guarantee a reserved area. The Island’s water taxi runs a shuttle service from Rose Bay Wharf every 20 minutes from midday.
