We’re now in the midst of winter and with the Olympics in full swing, we thought we’d hunt out the best places around Sydney to find a hearty Sunday roast while you enjoy the equestrian, swimming or perhaps a little canoeing.
The Duck Inn
Mitch’s Sunday Roasts are sure to warm you inside. Choose from either a shoulder of lamb or a succulent pork belly with some crispy crackling and wash it down with mulled cider or winter Pimms. You can book ahead too.
Concrete Blonde are doing a traditional Sunday roast with beef stew, Yorkshire pudding, market veggies and roast potatoes. Available from noon, you won’t need dinner after this lunch.
The Botanic Gardens Restaurant
Beauty and the beef. Stay warm in front of the open fireplace and complimentary blankets and enjoy the views over the Botanic Gardens and Sydney Harbour. The menu rotates between roast beef, chicken, pork and turkey and comes with all the traditional trimmings. That means Yorkshire pudding too. $30 per person.
Royal Botanic Gardens, Mrs Macquaries Road, Sydney

The Local Taphouse
Be the host-with-the-most and ‘Host a Roast’ with a group of your mates at The Local Taphouse. You’ll be given private use of the Wilfred Room – a room dedicated to the Taphouse’s Patron Saint of Beer – creating an intimate dining experience for you and your friends. The best part? You don’t have to do all the hard work of cooking a roast. For only $25 per person, you can choose from the succulent roast pork, rare roast beef or tender lamb. The roast is then placed in the middle of the table so everyone can help themselves.

Cosy up by the fire with a glass of red and wind down from the week with a hearty beef roast accompanied with Yorkshire pudding and trimmings for $25.
