Up here in Sydney, we're still very enthusiastic about the race that stops the nation, and even though we may not be track-side with the best of them, there are plenty of spots around town to both watch the cup and indulge in a lunch-time feast. Here are some ideas of what to do and where to go on Tuesday November 5.
Guests will be treated to an extravagant, 5-course Greek feast on Cup day. For $150 per person this includes a glass of Duval Leroy champagne on arrival.
Guests can choose from a 3 ($95) or 5 ($115) -course menu of delicious twists on European dishes. Both menus include a glass of sparkling on arrival.
Three hatted ARIA will be offering a personally designed, 3 course menu for $150 per person that includes Taittinger Brut on arrival, coffee or tea and petits fours. Guests can also win prizes for being the best dressed.
18 Argyle Street, The Rocks
The Argyle is promising two food and beverage packages, the Member’s Pavillion at $125 per person, or the Grandstand at $99.
There will be “Fashions on the Field” and Lizzy Lovette as resident DJ.
Level 1, Hotel CBD, Corner of King and York Street
Executive chef Jeremy Strode will be designing a three-course Cup lunch for $125.
The Fratelli Fresh team at Café Nice is offering three courses with a glass of Pommery champagne for $65 on Cup day, with a cheeky cocktail special for $9.
For $150 per person, guests will enjoy a special three-course set menu, including CHISWICK’S renowned shared-plates, a glass of Taittinger Brut on arrival, coffee or tea and petits fours. Fashion on the Field prizes will be given out for the best dressed.
789 Botany Road, Rosebery
The soon-to-be-open Clubhouse will be offering a lunch for $70 per person, which includes a glass of Mumm champagne, oysters for starters and brownie for dessert.
El Topo at the Eastern
Mexican fiesta favourite El Topo in Bondi Junction is serving up a Mexican feast for $65 with a glass of champagne or a cocktail on arrival.

Elegant three-course menu designed by Peter Doyle, including a flute of Dom Pérignon 2004 for $195.
330 George Street, Sydney
The Pool Club on the ivy rooftop is offering a glamorous afternoon, for $125 you’ll get DJs spinning tunes all day with a cocktail on arrival and Chandon vintage throughout the day.
At Palings, guests can settle in for a 2-course menu from head chef Christopher Whitehead for $75.
Other packages are being offered at The Den ($95), Uccello ($250), French bistro Felix ($160) and tapas bar Ash St. Cellar ($110).
Momma and the Colonel have prepared a very special taste of the Kentucky Derby for lucky punters this cup day. $70 per person will get you a refreshing Mint Julep cocktail on arrival, with a 3 course menu of all your Southern favourites. A bottle of Floria Ferrier Brut will also be given out to bookings of 4 or more people.
Diners can enjoy a 10-dish shared banquet with a glass of Moët & Chandon NV for $125.
Patrick Freisen is serving up a seven-course banquet of signature dishes for $80 per person.
Cellar masters, Nomad are offering five-courses and a flute of Stefano Lubiana Brut Reserve on the big day for $90 per person.

A banquet menu is being offered at Sake with a glass of champagne on arrival for $99 per person.
Sydney Opera House with ARIA Catering
Bennelong Point, Sydney
For $220 per person, lunch will be catered by ARIA chefs at the Opera House, or $200 for tables of 10 or more), you’ll enjoy canapés and a glass of Taittinger Brut on arrival followed by a three-course lunch designed by co-owner and chef Matt Moran and a beverage package of premium Australian wines and local beers.

New York style steakhouse The Cut Bar & Grill will be serving up a three course set menu with a glass of champagne on arrival for $99 per person.

The Morrison Bar & Oyster Room
Snag a spot at this lunch for $125 per person, which includes a glass of sparkling on arrival as well as a four-course, shared menu designed by executive chef Sean Connolly.
The Norfolk Hotel
The Norfolk are offering a two-hour drinks package with a four-course lunch for $80 per person.
The Sailors Club
From 12pm the restaurant bar is offering a $79 Melbourne Cup Lounge Bar Party, which includes a complimentary glass of Laurent-Perrier Champagne on arrival and delicious canapes served all day. There will also be a three-course menu on offer from 4pm with a glass of Laurent-Perrier champagne for $99 per person.
The Soda Factory
The hotdog housebehind the Coke fridge is serving up a Cup special of their famous $1 gourmet dogs from 1pm onwards. The dogs have been renamed from winners of years past (think Phar Lap and Makybe Diva), and house band The Syphons will be dishing out some pumping live entertainment after the race.
Even better, if you book a table for 10 or more people, you'll receive a free bottle of Chandon, on the house.
For $99 the Balmain pub is offering an indulgent 4 hours (12pm-4pm) of drinking premium beers, wine and spirits, with some tasty Mexican treats, like buttermilk chicken wings, tacos and quesadillas to line your stomach.
