Since 2011, Potts Point fine diner Gastro Park has served up all sorts of creations. Now, in an extremely competitive climate, Gastro Park will close on May 20.

The restaurant joins a number of other fine diners (Master, Missy French) that haven’t managed to stay afloat.

It’s tough, but it’s not all bad news. Chef-owner Grant King will hold onto the site and re-open a new restaurant some time in the future.

The restaurant was known for its inventive menu. It will be sad to see the edible balloons, dirt, dust and twigs go, and the kangaroo carpaccio and roasted wild jewfish were local favourites.

King was not available for comment at time of publication.
