There's a small possibility you haven’t read every article on Broadsheet about every new cafe opening lately. That’s OK. To help you catch up, we’ve gathered together our favourite recent openings, so you can send this to your friends next time you're planning a brunch date. Isn't life easy?

Communion Coffee
The Shire’s White Horse Coffee Roastery has been doing its thing in Sydney’s inner suburbs lately. Communion Coffee is a minimalist nook over the road from Redfern Park. Apart from pouring delicious coffee it also experiments with smoked meats. But if that’s not enough to have you sticking your head through the door, note that the staff here is community-involved (hence the name) and aims to hold an “eat what you give” dinner every month; you bring the produce and they’ll cook it for you.

Roastville
With a coffee roaster on site, Roastville has set itself up to compete in Marrickville’s coffee scene. The cafe also scores points for its innovative dishes, including kimchi fried chicken waffles and its own take on the Reuben sandwich, with roast potatoes, tomato chutney and wilted greens. With a tasteful brick interior, high ceilings and a sunny outdoor area, Roastville is one you’ll keep coming back to.

Bean and Berry
Commanding a corner of Pitt Street, Redfern, Bean and Berry is a must for those who want to hunker down with a long black and a poached-egg salad, or a scotch-fillet beef stew. It has a vintage look; old novels sit on shelves of wood and piping. It’s heart-warming to know the place is a family affair; the owner is ex-Butcher’s Block Andrew Ross, who runs the cafe with his parents, Margaret and Malcolm.

Foodcraft Espresso & Bakery
This spacious cafe in Erskineville has recently survived a whirlwind of international press as a result of its delicious-looking Tella ball milkshakes. But it’s not just the sweet-toothed that Foodcraft has won over. There are full breakfast and lunch menus, and it’s easy to find a savoury repast here, such as the Italian baked eggs, the New York Reuben or the Wagyu burger. It also uses Single Origin Roasters coffee, another tick.
