Entrata is the Pagano family’s latest Italian restaurant located in Glenhaven, in the Hills District. The family behind the hugely popular Bel Fiore wood-fired pizza restaurant decided to expand their business when they found the location.
“Originally we wanted to open a place like Entrata but due to not finding the right location we couldn’t. As soon as we saw this place, we fell in love,” says owner Isabella Pagano.
From the outside, the restaurant looks like a house. “We want you to feel like you’re coming into our family home.” Inside, New York-style decor with exposed brick; dark wooden furniture and large windows overlook greenery and bushland.
But what Entrata really comes down to is traditional Italian cooking. Everything from handmade ravioli that changes weekly to a baked, blue eye cod parcel with vongole, prawns and cherry tomatoes and chicken with asparagus cream, wrapped in speck on a bed of grapefruit and fennel salad. There’s also a no-fuss kids’ menu.
“We cater for everyone,” says Pagano. “There isn’t that much available in the Hills.” The menu is a collaboration between the Pagano family, the executive chef Lucio Russo, head chef Matteo Glir and the entire kitchen at Entrata. “We really pushed old recipes from our chefs and from our family. Everyone’s put a bit of themselves in there.”
Entrata also offers a regional menu, focusing on different regions of Italy and their traditional way of cooking. Each region is featured for around two months. Currently, Calabria is on the map, featuring dishes of bread, pork, goat and seafood. There’s live music every Sunday afternoon on the front lawn.
