Formerly located in Martin Place, dance club The Spice Cellar fled to the inner west hoping for lockout sanctuary. Less than four months on and the law have caught up with them. Following a 72-hour short-term closure order issued last month, the Spice Cellar at Erskineville’s Imperial hotel will now be enforcing a no pass outs rule from 1am, with no entry into the venue after 3am.
It hasn’t been confirmed if the NSW government enforced this rule or if the Spice Cellar staff took it on themselves to enforce restrictions to avoid another temporary closure. Broadsheet attempted to contact owner Murat Kilic for comment and will update this story as it develops.
