You won't find any school kids on excursions at the Australian Museum's Jurassic Lounge. Instead, you'll find a showcase of Sydney's hottest DJs and artists dotted throughout the Museum, sharing the space with gleaming jawbones, skeletons, Indigenous artworks, sparkling gemstones and other priceless goodies. It's the Australian Museum as you've never seen it before.
The after-hours, adults-only event features enough unique performances, interactive games, expert talks, hands-on workshops, film screenings and live art to keep even the wariest of museum-goers entertained. Roam through the low-lit rooms with a drink in hand and be amazed at the array of attractions lurking around every corner. Make a beeline for the cafe downstairs, which offers a selection of American diner-style dishes created by Sebastian Lutaud (of Tetsuya's fame).
Jurassic Lounge comes out of hibernation this Tuesday February 12 and will jump-start the year with a bang. They've planned a no-regrets anti-Valentine's Day party, which will feature burlesque dance classes (for singles to practice their bedroom moves, of course) and voodoo doll-making workshops with craft queen Kaila Perusco. As per usual, there will also be great live tunes from local musicians and a bevy of games. You’ll find us over by the Giant Jenga.
Tuesdays from February 12 until April 15, 5.30pm–9.30pm
Tickets $14. Bookings are recommended, but tickets are also available at the door.
