After selling out twice already, the most-recent addition to Sydney’s summer of pop-ups has a bright trajectory. A collaboration between Barrio Cellar and Pub Life Kitchen, Deus Presents PLK x Barrio is pumping out burgers from the space previously occupied by Deus Cafe at Deus Ex Machina on Parramatta Road.
At the burger pop-up in August, each burger was pitted against the other. This time Peter Lew (Barrio Cellar) and Jovan Curic (Pub Life Kitchen) have joined to create a burger menu for the masses.
“We’ve taken the best of each other’s burger and made an entirely new burger,” says Lew. “It’s different to what you could find at Barrio or Publife.”
The menu features two varieties of cheeseburger – one with a double patty – as well as a fried-chicken burger (with green Sriracha mayo) and a crumbed-eggplant vegetable sandwich. There’s a selection of sides available, too. These include jalapeño pickle slaw and onion rings. Young Henrys tinnies and frozen margaritas will also be offered.
“It’s a bit of everything: a bit of Deus, a bit of PLK, a bit of Barrio,” Lew says. “Deus has been here for more than 10 years. It’s such a great brand and store so we’re really excited to collaborate with them.”
The pop-up will remain open until the end of January.
