This year’s World Class Cocktail Week will play host to over 40 events celebrating all things cocktail. From degustations and dinners, to a taco and tequila masterclass, here’s 10 not to be missed.
6pm in Italy at Maybe Frank
Experience a local version of happy hour in Italy with this curated menu of five modern aperitif cocktails, each with accompanying tapas inspired by classic Italian aperitivo pairings. The bar at Maybe Frank will be dressed like a genuine Italian bar, with free finger food including meatballs and mortadella alongside a pizza menu for those looking to stay put past the hour.

The Art of Pairing at Longrain Sydney
The team at Longrain has created a unique Thai banquet for World Class Cocktail Week, paired with Asian-inspired cocktails designed to enhance the harmony of the four key elements in Longrain’s signature Thai food – hot, sweet, salty and sour. A spicy curry will sit alongside a sweet cocktail accompaniment, while sweeter dishes will command a dry cocktail to revitalise the palate.

Bubble & Squeak at PS40
Chef Jake Ryan Dolin of Rockpool Bar and Grill is setting up in PS40’s kitchen for three nights during World Class Cocktail Week to offer his interpretation of colonial British food. The bar will specially design cocktails to complement – think cured Hiramasa kingfish with finger limes, Tanqueray gin and PS Bush Tonic dressing. Drop in for one cocktail and snack, or sit down to dinner with each specially paired cocktail.

Old Fashioned & Potato Scallop at The Gretz
Take a stroll down nostalgia lane with this unique food and drink pairing. For World Class Cocktail Week the team at The Gretz will prepare a potato scallop butty with chicken salt and tomato sauce, served on steamed white bread smothered in butter. This will be paired with a Boilermaker match of Shandy Bass beer and an Old Fashioned made with Bulleit Rye.

Icebergs X World Class Cocktail Week at Icebergs Dining Room and Bar
Soak in the view of Bondi Beach over an indulgent tasting menu with matching cocktails, exclusive to World Class Cocktail Week. Six dishes, ranging from smaller appetisers to mains and two types of dessert will be paired with specially designed cocktails featuring Don Julio Reposado tequila, Tanqueray gin and Bulleit Rye whisky, as well as a twist on the classic Sgroppino made with prosecco and Ciroc vodka.

Gin & Vermouth Cocktail Dinner at The Cellar by Bouche
Bouche on Bridge executive chef Joachim Borenius will take over the kitchen at The Cellar for a three-course dinner matched with World Class cocktails made with Tanqueray gin and vermouth. Alongside dishes like fish sous vide with vermouth, and duck with rosso vermouth XO sauce, drinks will feature three different styles of light vermouth in cocktails such as Manhattans and Martinis, before richer styles served with dessert.

Margarita and Taco Masterclass at Barrio Cellar
Impress at future dinner parties and intimate fiestas by mastering the skill of making tacos and Margaritas at home. Guests at this intimate masterclass will learn how to make three different kinds of Margaritas while also learning the history of the drink and its varied ingredients. The chef will also pair three tacos to complement the cocktails while teaching you how to cook them yourself.

Black Pearl X Bulletin Place at Bulletin Place
Two of Australia’s greatest World Class bars will swap teams for two nights during World Class Cocktail Week. Melbourne’s Black Pearl will move into Sydney’s Bulletin Place to showcase cocktails from its new menu, while the bartenders from Bulletin Place will showcase their daily changing, seasonal drinks behind the bar at the Black Pearl. A true one-off experience.

Bondi Roaming Dinner at Neighbourhood Bondi
It’s not easy choosing where to eat sometimes. Here’s one solution. Join the Bondi Beach crew at China Diner, Neighbourhood Bondi and Milky Lane for a roaming three-course feast with matched cocktails, exclusive to World Class Cocktail Week. Your ticket will get you one course and one cocktail at each restaurant. Don’t worry, all venues are within a block of each other so you won’t be walking far.

Mind Tasting at This Must be the Place
This one-off event will see the team at This Must be the Place bring their experiments, trials, and scribbles to life, as they actualise what goes on in the mind of a World Class bartender. The menu will be impulsive and informal, as they candidly experiment with whichever ingredients come to mind. The innovative cocktail degustation will be paired with snacks.
