On a sunny corner of Lenthall Street is a treasure trove of antiques and hand-picked items accompanied by perfectly poured coffee.

No.12 Trading took over where Lakota Trading left off in late May and re-opened with a mini makeover thanks to design devotees Skye Rollo and Brendon King. The result is a perfect shop-cafe combination in Kensington. The front balcony is a great spot in which to settle in with some fig, raisin and cranberry sourdough topped with local Centennial Park honey, among vintage children’s benches, old-fashioned filing cabinets and pre-loved suitcases from a bygone era.

Inside, old maps and school desks give way to a tidy selection of Hutchison-Hume boy’s bathroom cleaner, matching sets of sherry glasses, wooden toast tongs and slate chalkboards to spruce up your everyday living. It’s a neat collection of old meets new backed up by coffee from The Little Marionette and breads from The Bread and Butter Project. Mums with babies make the most of the hi-chairs and pram parking, but locals stop in for the coffee with a ham-and-cheese croissant combo for $9 or Tippity teas. Pretty displays of macarons under glass bells on the distressed wooden counter also have their share of fans.

Updated pieces are added to the new and vintage collections regularly, creating the perfect excuse to come back again and again.
