Christmas Eve exists for two purposes. First, you must devour enough throughout the day to slacken your stomach walls in preparation for the approaching Christmas feast. Secondly, it’s your opportunity to either show off Sydney to (or escape from) visiting relatives. The only problem is that bar staff and publicans also have families with whom they enjoy spending the holidays. This selfishness means some of Sydney’s finest establishments are closed on the 24th, or have weird, inconvenient opening hours. We’ve done the digging for you, finding our favourite bars and pubs open on Christmas Eve.
