• At L’Avant Cave , Porcine and P&V Liquor commit to each other after a four-year situationship. Now one of Sydney’s best bottle-os has the upstairs kitchen team on food duty. It’s all French stuff, including a riff on Melba toast, oeufs Caesar and a ripper poutine courtesy of the new Quebecois chef.

• First look: the whopping 300-seat Felons Seafood lures an ex-Rockpool chef to Manly Wharf. Stop in – sandy feet welcome – for fish’n’chips and classic beachside fare dressed up with bush ingredients.

• First look: at Greenbergs , you have to have the big salad. The “counter and caterer” from the Lox in a Box team cruises into Bondi with a six-part menu of hefty bowls.

• On Thursday mornings in Chatswood, people line up for one thing: Flybee’s tiramisu. We joined the queue – here’s everything you need to know about this particular serve of the classic Italian dessert.

• First look: Bar Demo is a newbie in Enmore Road’s line-up of indie small-bar favourites. And with two ex-Double Deuce bartenders at the helm, it’s no surprise it’s already keeping up with its neighbours.

Africa Fusion is the one-woman pop-up bringing East African brekkie staples to Enmore Road. Head in for fresh-fried doughnuts ready to swipe through punchy Kenyan street food dishes, and spice-laden coffee.

Akti continues Sydney’s Greek wave on the harbour. It’s the latest from the Ripples team, where an ex-Hellenica chef is turning dishes like moussaka, dolmades and galaktoboureko on their heads.

• First look: popular Bondi deli S’wich lands in Redfern with four new sangas, all on bread from AP Bakery. Plus, sangas for dinner and a vintage sound system brings the energy.

• Another queue-plagued sanga spot is Manly’s Wilburs – and now there’s another one in Brookvale. There’s more seating and $2 batch brews.

• Freshwater’s Harbord Hotel levels up with Bombies , a rooftop party bar. There are new bar snacks, karaoke and an epic roster of sunset gigs.

Closures

• Queer bar The Bearded Tit to close after 11 glorious years. Owner Joy Ng is looking to expand her horizons – and yes, you can buy a piece of the Tit to take home.

• Neil Perry announced the closure of his Double Bay Cantonese diner Song Bird. But he’s not farewelling the space. New name, new concept, same Neil. Here’s everything we know. The news comes just a few weeks after the sudden closure of his first “real” bar, Bobbie’s.

Bar Vincent quietly closed on Sunday June 15. It comes just two months after the Bar Copains team took over the beloved Darlinghurst dining room. It’s planning something new – and it opens soon.
