What’s on around town

• Book in at Lola’s in Bondi for a night of Tuscan wine pairings. On Thursday June 27, Enoteca Sydney’s Andreas Puhar is coming in to pour nine drops alongside a five-course set menu. A $200 ticket is all-inclusive, and bookings are required.

• Head into Newtown’s Marani Deli for provisions during the day and more at night. There are Italian wine nights and creative classes , or pick up a raclette party pack to get cheesy at home.

• Langtons is currently hosting an online auction full of rare bottles of Penfolds. Get your bids in before Sunday June 16.

• Yo-Chi is back with Tribute Tuesday, its initiative that sees hard-working members of the community acknowledged each week with free swirls of frozen yoghurt. On June 18, all vet and animal rescue workers can head in for a froyo. Keep your eyes on the brand’s feed for who’s up next.

• Winter staycay: check in at Crown Sydney between now and February 28, 2025, with the Table for Two offer to enjoy a night in a Harbour Bridge or Opera king room, $250 dining credit, bottle of bubbles on arrival and buffet brekkie the next day. Prices start at $799 per night.

• Sydney’s first Henne store is opening on Saturday – and there’s pasta on the house to celebrate. Shop at the new Paddington boutique on June 15 from midday till 2pm, then enjoy a bowl of fusilli alla vodka by Pepi’s in the courtyard.

Hot new aperitivo hours

• Paski's aperitivo hour is back, with a line-up of standout snacks and nicely priced glasses from 5pm to 6.30pm, Monday to Saturday. Level up a wintry night with roasted chestnuts and fried stuffed olives, plus $10 vermouth and $11 pours of red wine.

• Two Avalon hotspots, Randy’s and Bar Elvina, are also in on the aperitivo hour game, collaborating on a bumper offering. From 3pm till 5pm, nab $4 gildas and $12 Negronis at Randy’s, then head upstairs from 5pm for $6 serves of tostadas and zucchini flowers, plus $12 Martinis.

• Today Sydney Common launched its new bar menu and aperitivo hour. Head to the stunning space (with park views) between 4.30pm and 6.30pm for $8 mini Martinis plus $6 wines, G&Ts and lagers. Snack-wise, there are finger lime-topped oysters, roasted artichokes and prawn katsu sangas.

You might’ve missed

The best thing I’ve eaten lately : the Broadsheet Sydney team’s favourite bites of autumn.

• First look: It’s a sunny afternoon and people are strolling down the street, waving to the local butcher. This isn’t Pontypandy , it’s Paddington – and they’re greeting the team at family-run butcher Field to Fork.

Five to try : seriously good gluten-free baked goods in Sydney. These loaves, doughnuts, tarts and cakes stand up to our city’s best gluten-stacked options.
