Held in the Surry Hills pub’s Wine Room, Delfino Aperitivo is a weekly bar takeover that has featured some of the country’s best chefs and drink providers, including Attica’s Ben Shewry, Paul Carmichael of Momofuku Seiobo and Automata’s Clayton Wells.
Now it’s The Slow’s turn. The hotel’s head chef Shannon Moran will serve snacks such as Canggu-style fried cauliflower and “Tokyo hummus”. The food is available for two hours (from 6pm to 8pm, followed by an afterparty ) and all plates are $5 to $7.
The Slow’s resident sound artists, Reverberation Radio, will also be there (from LA) to perform an all-vinyl DJ set. Reverberation Radio is a collaboration between Allah-Las band members and friends, and their eclectic soundscape is inspired by strange pop and instrumentals.
Sydney’s China Heights Gallery has put together a series of art pieces by Alex Knost to add to the island vibe.
“We are excited to come over and put our spin on Aperitivo,” says George Gorrow, former Ksubi mastermind and the owner and designer of The Slow. “It’s a little bit island, a little bit punk, a little bit contemporary, with a little sane food and insane drinks”.
The Slow will be at The Dolphin’s Delfino Aperitivo on Friday April 27 from 6pm to 8pm. The afterparty is 8pm to 12am. Entry free.
