What’s Happening Around Town
• Fresh off her sell-out appearance at Clarence and V for Broadsheet’s second Dine Out festival, Melbourne chef du jour Audrey Shaw (Carnation Canteen) is back in town next month. She’ll be in the kitchen with Isobel Whelan-Little at Kiln on August 10, preparing a four-course dinner that includes a welcome cocktail. $110 per person. Book here.
• Dine Out wraps on Sunday August 2, but you still have time to catch 17 incredible happy hours, six gorgeous sweets (including soufflé pancakes), four sandwiches and a bunch more limited-time specials.
• After opening daytime cafe Manteiga in Darlinghurst last year, owner-chef Justin Martins (ex. Bentley, Est. Restaurant and Dinner by Heston) is launching Manteiga Nights every Friday and Saturday. Leaning into his parents Portuguese heritage and the food he grew up eating, the menu includes charcoal-grilled chicken finished with piri piri, burrata with smoky chorizo XO and nigella crumb, and Madeira Bombe Alaska.
• The Tommy Panini x Pizza Laundry relationship worked so well in Bondi, they’re bringing it to the CBD too. From 5pm Wednesday to Friday, Pizza Laundry will transform Tommy Panini at 1 Farrer Place into a pizza and wine bar with all the hits from Bondi. But the real news here is two CBD-only creations: a white-base spanakopita pizza, topped with silverbeet, dill, caramelised onion and confit garlic; and a pepperoni, ricotta and pork-and- fennel sausage number.
