A Moment For: Pantry Story’s Chic Croissant Handbag, Exclusive to Dine Out

When I saw the prototype for Pantry Story’s Dine Out exclusive, I immediately put all my money on it being the accessory of the week. The croissant handbag, filled with truffle brûlée custard, is available every morning from 8am. “I think everyone’s going to fall in love with it,” owner Mutiara Sucipto tells Broadsheet. “Especially if you're into food and fashion. It’s fun, it’s stylish, and of course, it’s delicious.”
Its inception was a happy accident. “I discovered it when I rolled the sides of a croissant a bit too long. When I put them together, it looked just like a handbag handle, and the rest kind of fell into place.”
I will be picking mine up on the fest’s Wednesday morning, along with my morning coffee. And if the response is anything like the devotion inspired by Sucipto’s other specials (like jiggling capybara panna cottas and Lunar New Year char siu hand pies), you’ll want to arrive early.
Here are all the details.
What: a croissant bag.
How: “We start with our classic croissant dough, which goes through our usual three-day process – mixing, laminating, resting and proofing. We cut the dough larger than our standard size and add an extra strip to create the [bag’s] handle. After it’s proofed and baked, we fill it with a rich truffle crème brûlée custard, then finish it off with a mini croissant on top as a playful little take on a clasp.”
Cost: $15
Where: Pantry Story in Stanmore, exclusively during Dine Out (August 11 till August 17, 2025).
Broadsheet’s Dine Out festival makes its Sydney debut from August 11 to 17, 2025, after its run in Melbourne from August 4 to 10, 2025. There are 80 events across the two cities.
