During last year’s first lockdown, Newtown’s Rising Sun Workshop did a bang-up job of feeding the inner-west masses and stocking their pantries with coffee, flour, wine and even toilet pape. It even enlisted its casual staff to do deliveries via motorbike.

So this lockdown, it knows exactly what it’s doing. It’s launched DIY ramen packs with everything you need to throw together two serves of one of its three signature ramens. Choose between its The Darkness (roast-pork bone broth with shoyu tare and pork-belly topping), The Light (chicken broth with shio tare, topped with pork belly) and The Monk (a vegetarian version, with shiitake mushroom and sea-kelp dashi, and garlic, pepper and miso tare, topped with corn and braised greens) ramens. Each kit comes with enough broth, garnishes – including meats, bamboo and ajitama (eggs) – and noodles to feed two.

It takes just a few, very easy, steps – including boiling a kettle and heating the noodles – to put together the ramen. The kits will set you back $40 – or opt for a dinner pack. It comes with a ramen kit; your choice of a bottle of wine or six-pack of beer; frozen cookies; enough Bloody Mary for two; and a RSW pin. All its broth and toppings are gluten-free, and the noodles can be swapped for a gluten-free version.

You can also order bottles of wine; pre-batched cocktails and beer, as well as coffee beans, cookies, toilet paper and jars of kimchi. Order via Bopple for pick-up or delivery (until 5.45pm daily, with a five-kilometre radius). Or, get yours from P&V – and add on a magnum of Brash Higgins 2017 Nymph for an extra $70.
