• At Joe’s Tavern , they do make it like they used to. There are onion rings, burgers, Mint Juleps and Knickerbocker Glories, plus the Continental Deli team’s exceptional hospitality.
• Radio Taco rockets a birria-fuelled menu onto a Chippendale corner.
• A scruffy King Street corner is now South End , a Euro diner from an ex-Fred’s head chef, ex-Ester sous and Paul Guiney, who the kitchen pair joke is 750 years old – that’s how much Sydney hospo lore he brings.
• Tuki ’s golden syrupy medialunas are only a DM away. The croissant-shaped pastries are a morning staple in Argentina – and the ones made by this at-home baker are a flashback for Sydney’s Argentinians.
• Luigi Panini is the new sandwich window to visit for Nonna’s meatballs, a top-selling porchetta and plenty of local cheese.
• The El Primo Sanchez fiesta hits Crown Street with Margs, piñatas and karaoke.
• Taste the best of Spain, France and Italy at the latest dining room to hit Martin Place, Epula. Expect gazpacho bonbons, a Marche-style lasagne and more in a 150-year-old building.
• Alzado takes the Ravesis dining room to the next level with Spanish seafood classics, local catch and plenty of vermouth.
• At Good Pair Days’ first “real” wine bar , you and a mate can share a bottle, olives and bread for $14 apiece.
• The Palomar is a London classic – and now it’s Sydney’s turn. Mitch Orr’s at the helm, with the “most talented” team he’s ever worked with – and they’re offering two-bite chicken schnitzels, baklava ice-cream sandwiches and a definitively local edge.
