To add to its growing empire, Sydney’s ice-cream darling, Gelato Messina has expanded to Parramatta, opening a new store on Church Street today, Friday June 6. “We’ve been asked to move to the West a lot, and we thought Parramatta would be the best spot. It’s really the epicenter … but we weren’t prepared to make the move until we found the perfect site,” explains co-founder Declan Lee.

After months spent searching, the Messina team has found just that. Located in the old Wow Cow frozen yoghurt store on Church Street, the new store is “Darlinghurst-sized,” says Lee.

When an old business partner, Ray Abbas, a local of Parramatta wanted to rejoin the team it knew it was onto something great. “It was so important we had someone local,” Lee tells us. With flavours such as East Meets West, a labneh and pistachio concoction topped with fig and date jam, Messina really is tipping its hat to the local Lebanese community. Gelato Messina is a welcome addition to Parramatta’s food scene and just in time for the long weekend.
