The chill of winter is starting to be felt in Sydney, and it’s only going to get worse come June. To make getting out of our PJs and into a pub, restaurant or bar a bit easier, Sydney hospitality giant Merivale is slashing 49 per cent off all its drinks prices, all June, from 5pm to 7pm every day. That includes all cocktails, spirits, beer, wine and champagne up to the value of $200 at 39 of its venues.

You could sip a glass of 2017 Mas Que Vino “Ercavio Joven” La Mancha, Spain (tempranillo) at Ash St Cellar for $6.63; down $5.61 prosecco at Tank Stream Bar; smash $8 Margaritas while eating tacos at El Loco; or drink Aperol spritzes at Coogee Pavilion for $8.67.

You could get a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne at The Paddington bar for $81.60. And it seems like now’s a good time to order the $130 De La Mer cocktail at Felix bar. Hand over $66.30 and in return you’ll get a Martini made with Absolut Elyx and dry vermouth, with a side plate of brioche and Oscietra caviar.

“Sydney is the best city in the world when everyone is out having a great time,” says Merivale CEO Justin Hemmes. “This is our way of saying, ‘It may be the end of the financial year but it’s just the beginning of the party’ ... Whatever it may be, there’s always an excuse to get out and experience our city.”

And if 49 per cent seems like an odd number, it’s the maximum amount businesses can legally discount alcohol by, according to NSW state law.

Merivale’s 49 per cent off offer runs throughout June, every day from 5pm to 7pm at 39 of its venues.
