Sydney’s largest hospitality group, Merivale, has launched an online booze store selling wines, beers, ciders and spirits chosen by the group’s sommeliers who work across its 70 venues.

Those venues include Bondi’s Totti’s, Est and Mr Wong in the CBD, and many more.

The online hub, The Bottle Shop, is based on the same premise as the group’s retail store on Palings Lane in the Ivy precinct (also owned by Merivale): if you enjoyed something at one of the restaurants or bars, you might like to purchase a bottle to have at home. It includes everyday wines as well as high-end vintage drops, and the selection is overseen by Merivale’s master sommeliers Franck Moreau and Adrian Filiuta.

To help make browsing easier, the store has curated wine packs and categories to suit different moods and occasions. Bottles grouped in the “weeknight wine” range are mostly priced below $30, and selected to pair nicely with takeaway and TV, while the “somm’s squeeze” features bottles from priced from $29.95 to over $529.90, with cult winemakers such as Italy’s Occhipinti and Georgia’s Pheasant’s Tears represented (both $49.90). The “au naturale” section has a range of organic and natural wines.

There’s a monthly subscription service, with selections of wines delivered to your home on the first day of the month. There are three different sizes (three bottles, six or 12) and three different levels (“savour” is $60; “seduce”, for drops that are a bit more special, starts at $80; and “splurge” starts at $110).

Flat shipping is $10 for orders under $150, and delivery for orders over $150 is free. Deliveries will arrive at Sydney metro areas around three days after an order is placed, longer for other regions.
