We’re known for being a country that knows how and what to drink, and this is because we’re lucky enough to be home to world-class bartenders.

Bartender Jack Sotti, bartender to new-kid-on-the-block Boilermaker House in Melbourne, is currently en route to represent Australia at The World Class competition in South Africa in hope of securing the title of the World Class Bartender of the Year.

Taking place from August 31 to September 4 in Johannesburg and Cape Town, the event is now in its seventh year and is the biggest and most prestigious cocktail making event in the world.

Fresh off his recent success being named Diageo Reserve Australian Bartender of the Year for 2015, Sotti has been through 12 months of regional and national heats to advance to this landmark week in hope of impressing the most respected bartenders and drinks experts from around the globe.

The World Class Bartender of the Year Awards has been running since 2009 and this year bartenders from more than 50 countries have participated. Contestants are judged on originality, precision, flair and their connection with the audience.
