Lulu Is Pushing $2 Gyozas, Spicy Margs and $5 Serves of That Revved-Up Prawn Toast This Week

Last May, the team behind Bondi duo Raw Bar and Harry’s welcomed another eatery to its beachside family: Lulu, a pan-Asian eatery on Hall Street. When Broadsheet visited, it was the golden prawn and scallop toast – jazzed up with mentaiko and sudachi ponzu – that made a lasting impact. A year on, the spot’s a fave for fresh plates of sashimi, a quick sushi stop and those who want a longer meal in a casually cool space. And, to celebrate 12 months of dining, the team has a week of specials until Sunday June 2.
Today, plates of the crispy salmon roll – where avo is rolled with tempura crisp, rice and raw salmon – are 50 per cent off. And if that revved-up prawn toast’s your fave, head in on Tuesday to nab it for $5.
There’s a fiery togarashi Margarita joining the cocktail list on Wednesday, and Thursday means gyozas at $2 a pop. These specials bolster the full menu, which shines with plates designed to share: Japanese-style things you’d find at Raw Bar; a salad of nashi pear and Asian greens; a hot market fish curry; and a particularly popular serve of fried chicken.
Sweeten your Friday with $2 serves of matcha or black sesame mochi, or head in on Saturday for $3 oysters. (Then lean into a Sunday sesh with $5 pours of rosé.)
While the blush-pink dining room doesn’t boast the same glittery water views of the team’s other two venues, the warm fit-out makes up for it. There’s a curvy marble bar and plush banquette seating – a top spot for any night of the week.
Lulu’s week of birthday specials runs from Monday May 27 till Sunday June 2. Bookings recommended.
