It’s been the place for school excursions and rainy childhood weekends, but there aren’t many of us who have visited the Australian Museum since graduating high school.

That may well soon change. Kicking off after hours with a clutch of Sydney bands, artists and DJs in tow, the Australian Museum is entertaining the big kids (18+) with the return of Jurassic Lounge.

Now in its third year, the event has grown to include a night hosted by FBi radio on February 7 featuring FBi DJs, the infamous Donny Benet performing alongside BATTERIE and Domeyko/Gonzales, not to mention an anti-Valentines Day on the February 14 featuring Fanny Lumsden and her Glorious Whores, the New Romantics and stand up comedians.

Jurassic Lounge has a licensed bar and several stages set up amongst the dinosaur skeletons and taxidermy animals and runs from 5.30am to 9.30pm. Perfect for a school night.

Jurassic Lounge at the Australian Museum runs every Tuesday until April 30, 2012.
