The pizza and pasta masterminds behind Fratelli Fresh open Fratelli Famous on level five of Westfield Sydney today. The first 500 customers will receive a free, eight-inch, build-your-own pizza.
The pizzas have a specially engineered, 48-hour-fermented sourdough, natural-yeast crust. Toppings include apple-wood smoked bacon, Sicilian anchovies and caramelised onions. Fratelli Fresh is also working with Australian brewmaster Bryan Watson to create a signature Italian-style beer, crafted locally.
The Fratelli Fresh restaurants, a Sydney favourite for Italian food, were bought by food and drink giant Urban Purveyor Group (UPG) in April this year. Fratelli founder Barry McDonald took on an advisory role. UPG is best known for venues such as The Argyle and Saké Restaurant & Bar.
An offshoot of UPG venue Saké, Saké Jr., will open opposite Fratelli Famous at Westfield tomorrow. To kick things off, it’s giving away Korean-inspired, built-to-order noodle and rice bowls in a grab-and-go format.
Saké Jr will also be open for breakfast, serving acai bowls and seasonal fruit salads with yuzu; banana bread with Okinawa sugar; and berry and yuzu muesli.
Customers who share a photo on social-media of their personalised pizza will score a free dessert on their next visit.
