Sydney may be just days away from winter, but the unseasonably warm weather lends itself to a summery drink: the much-maligned Aperol Spritz. Luckily, Italian chain Fratelli Fresh has just unleashed upon our harbour city the 1.5-litre Aperol Spritz.
Fratelli has dubbed the mutant beverage the “Super Spritz”. It comes in a suitably enormous glass and costs $39 (or $20 on Wednesdays). The group has launched the hulking cocktail as part of its winter menu and calendar of events.
Other weekly specials – all $20 – include all-you-can-eat pizza on Mondays, “endless antipasti” on Tuesdays and three gnocchi dishes on Thursdays. It’s also introduced one-metre-long pizzas to its Darling Harbour, Entertainment Quarter and Westfield Sydney venues. They’re going for $79 each, and pizza-lovers get to choose two toppings per metre.
Dessert boards are also on the menu – they’re stacked with cheesecake, ricotta-filled cannoli, tiramisu, banoffee torta and two cups of gelato.
Fratelli will celebrate National Cheese Day on June 4, with $15 bowls of pasta tossed with black pepper and cream inside a giant pecorino wheel. (The dish will also be added to the menus at the Crows Nest and Alexandria locations.) Alexandria will also host cooking classes every Tuesday in June. Learn about seafood, brush up on your pizza-making skills, wrap your head around the art of desserts and put together a top-notch Sunday roast.
At the Entertainment Quarter, a three-course vegan feast will take place on June 20, with matching vegan wines. And from June 17 until June 20, four venues (Bridge Street, Westfield, Crows Nest and Alexandria) will host a series of truffle dinners, showcasing Australian truffles on a four-course menu.
