Next time it’s past 10pm and you find yourself yearning for a nice meal – or simply cocktails and good snack – turn to one of these stellar options. Each has a dedicated late-night menu, all are fantastic.

Ho Jiak, Haymarket

Head into Junda Khoo’s Haymarket digs for a bottomless Malaysian feast – but only from 10pm till midnight, Monday through Saturday. For 90 minutes, order to your heart’s (and stomach’s) desire for $38 per person. The supper menu can change, but at the moment it includes golden rounds of roti with curry, Hokkien mee goreng and egg fried rice. Then fried chicken, greens and mantou with condensed milk alongside to dip. Plus, a dessert special.

For an extra $12 per person, add free-flowing beer or teh tarik (milk tea) too. Bookings recommended.

Franca, Potts Point

The modern brasserie takes a relaxed approach to French cuisine, with an offering fusing French and Mediterranean flavours. And now there’s a tasty way to sauce up your Fridays. From 9.30pm till late, Franca is hosting a supper club. Head in for a special frites menu, plus DJs on the decks.

Maybe get into a Wagyu burger – dressed up with caramelised onions, sharp cheddar and pickle relish – or order a serve of Jervis Bay mussels swimming in garlic and white wine. There’s a fried chicken burger, grilled rock lobster and hearty sirloin too – all with frites aplenty. Plus, a chocolate and coffee brûlée on for dessert. Bookings recommended.

The Hook, Potts Point

The new oyster bar is one of this year’s best newcomers, and it’s open till late every night. But, from 10pm, there’s a smaller supper menu that’s sure to tide you over till morning. Alongside a Hook Martini – a 50/50 split of Never Never’s savoury oyster shell gin and dry Vermouth – snack on salty crisps, beer nuts, olives or a cheese plate laden with goods from Penny’s. Or, if you’re hungry for more, dive into an LP’s hotdog.

The Caterpillar Club, CBD

From midnight till very late (3am or 4am, depending on the day), the record-spinning underground bar is serving up a tight selection from its regular menu. Descend to the Caterpillar Club for vibes, a knockout music roster and splashy drinks, and stay till you need supper.

There’s the cheeseburger with dry-aged beef, cheddar, pickles and special sauce, or the classic tuna melt. A must is the cup of fat-cut chips, fried till golden in beef dripping. Jazz things up with an order of oysters, or go luxe with caviar and waffles.
